Search Engine

Various search options are available under the 'Search' tab.  'Alumni' can be used to find former classmates by searching for the schools you studied at.

Searches are based on all information in members' profiles.

Members are also searchable on other Internet search engines. Some members might only choose to display a shorter version of their profile on the Internet.

You can search by:

• Keywords: words might appear in any part of a member's profile
• Name of a person
• Industry
• Company
• Current company only: if you would like to limit the search to people who currently working in a certain company
• Position
• Current position only: if you would like to limit the search to people who currently hold a certain position
• Town, postcode or zip
• Country
• Schools/Universities
• When they joined Viadeo
• Search profiles in different languages
• No more than 2 contacts apart or beyong

Combine several search terms to improve your search.

In search results, you can tag keywords to the profiles that interest you. The tags are only visible to you and help you manage your contacts.

You can also tag your contacts on the 'Contacts' page.

You can also save your search by tick the box of 'I would like to receive a weekly email notification of all new members meeting this search criteria' at the top of search results.

Boolean search:

• Include a word in search: add + and a space before the word you want to search
• Exclude a word in search: add - and a space before the word to exclude in search results. For example, you are looking for all director outside the UK, you can put: director - UK
• Phrase search: put the exact phrase you are search in quotation marks. For example: 'Chairman of the Board of Trustees'
• Use brackets to combine phrase search exclude words. For example: + ('Chairman of the Board of Trustees' Micro*) - Director
