Forums is a discussion area where Viadeo members with common interest can discuss and exchange opinions and information on professional subjects. All Premium members can register in a number of forums and participate in discussions. All Viadeo members can create a forum. There are two types of forums: private and public. A forum is first private by default. To be made public, the forum manager must submit a request to the Viadeo team. | ||

| Private forums | ||
Private forums are not visible in the forums list. Only members of the private forums can see them on Viadeo. Any Viadeo member can create private forums. Registration to a private forum is by invitation only. The forum manager can invite their contacts who can invite more contacts. | ||

| Public forums | ||
Public forums are visible to all Viadeo members. You can join any public forum. The forum manager(s) may vet registrations, your registration will become effective once approved. | ||

What is a forum |
Forums are discussion areas around common interest or themes and moderated by our members on which you can discuss subjects, exchange expertise, they can be based on a current hot topics (Regional, Politics, Society, Employment, Art, Sport), or simply to get together with members sharing similar backgrounds or interests (former classmates, associations, clubs). Forums are classified by subject. You can view the forum list on Viadeo. You can also create your own forum.
A forum can be private (only visible to forum members) or public (visible for all).
How can I create a forum and manage it? |
Create a forum by clicking 'Create a forum' and fill in the fields provided. It will be private by default then made public at the administrator's request and if accepted by the Viadeo team.
As the forum administrator, you can set the membership rules:
- Open: all members can register and participate in your forum
- Monitored: the administrator must validate a membership request
You will also be able to create themes, rename them, choose the type of theme (everyone can participate, administrators only...)
You may also send an email to all forum members (meetings, newsletters). New features will be regularly added for forum administrators.
How can I search and register on a forum? |
Enter a keyword in search engine to search a forum. Forums with the keyword(s) will be listed by subject. Once you have found a forum of interest, simply click 'Register' to join. If the forum is Open, you will become a member. If access is Monitored, the forum administrator will need to validate your membership.
Notification and Frequency of Sending |
This function allows you to define the frequency at which you would like to receive email alerts when another member posts a comment in one of your forums.
